Job Title:                             Porter 1st Shift                                                  
Position Reports To:          Production Supervisor
FLSA Status:                      Hourly
  • This is a full-time permanent position eligible for enrollment in company benefit plans after 60 days and 40 hours Vacation time after 90 days
  • Hours 7:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday Saturdays possible January - April
  • Hours 7:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Saturday May - December

Position Purpose Summary: This position is a hybrid role with responsibilities pertaining to Sanitation as well as Operations. Employee will be responsible for waste removal throughout the facility, as well as sanitation duties on shift and anything else requested by the Sanitation Manager or Plant Management.
Principal Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve the needs of customers and all stakeholders
  • Adhere to all Food Safety, GMP Policies, and all procedures relating to Hi-Care at the Arbre and Willow Cold Storage facilities.
  • Responsible for removal and dumping of waste bins using a forklift or other material handling device.
  • Responsible for emptying waste receptacles throughout the facility as needed.
  • Will conduct ongoing housekeeping tasks and general pick up of the production environment on a daily basis.
  • Tasked with carrying out effective sanitation on equipment and the plant environment as needed during a sanitation intervention. Will take part in cleaning as directed by the MSS. (Master Sanitation Schedule) in accordance with established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures. (SSOP)
  • Assist with clean up after a BBP (Blood Borne Pathogen) or Glass and Brittle Plastic incident.
  • May be required to work in Production or Outside Grounds as required by shift management.
  • Operate chemical dispensing equipment, sanitation equipment, machinery controls, and various tools.
  • Will operate a forklift, double pallet jack and other mobile equipment at Arbre Farms/Willow Cold Storage.
  • Ensures that all required documentation is filled out correctly each day.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to learn all sanitation procedures at Arbre Farms/Willow Cold Storage
  • Above average skills in communication
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and double pallet jack at the Arbre Farms/Willow Cold Storage facilities.
  • Must have and maintain an excellent attendance record.
  • Employee must be self-directed and work without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and follow SSOP is to an acceptable degree; work well with others in a team environment; take and follow direction for others.
  • Employee must be flexible and able to work in numerous roles throughout the plant environment as needed.
  • Must be able to manage time and workload in a high-paced environment while retaining a high degree of professionalism.
Education and Experience:
  • Forklift License
  • High School Diploma or GED
Physical Demands of the Position:
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be able to see, speak, hear, read, walk, and stand for long periods.  The employee must be able to pull, push, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, balance, and lift in excess of 50 lbs.  There is extensive walking required. 
Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be able to work in multiple climates and work environments.  Proper safety equipment will be provided, but the employee may be required to work in, but not limited to, these conditions:  dirt, heat, freezer, smoke/steam, noise, vibration, grease/oil, fumes, dust/shavings, and wet environments; variable temperatures of both heat and cold.
